The star has given the entirety of his £25k honor prize money to the MVT, which operates to preserve the Britain's grassroots music venues.

He was given the prize on mid-October as his latest record the album was declared the top album of the last 12 months.

Fender has chosen to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in appreciation of the vital role small stages had in his early career.

"I couldn't be pursuing this success if it wasn't for all the performances I did around the region, and elsewhere, when I was beginning," remarked Fender. "These venues are renowned, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – approximately 16 percent of the entire UK sector.

In the last year, major artists like the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its attempts to keep the scene afloat, by applying a minor surcharge to their admission fees, which benefits independent venues.

Fender also joined in, collecting in excess of £100,000 on his live tour to help 38 grassroots venues across the UK.

The money assisted spaces that were confronting possible closure due to challenges caused by water damage, blazes and personal losses, as well as regulatory hurdles, conflicts and neighbor objections.

Some locations received monetary aid in improving amenities and technical equipment that helped musicians and fans.

"The concept that revenue from concerts in large arenas backs the smaller venues, where it kicks off for performers like me, is just common sense," the star has commented.

Fender is among several artists to donate his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

Back when the band received the award in 1996 for their album Different Class, lead singer Jarvis Cocker declared that the band would contribute their cash to the charity War Child.

That year, artist Ms Dynamite shared her award among a few organizations, including the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to Highgate Newtown, to their gymnastics program, because I practiced gymnastics when I was younger and they required updated gear," Ms Dynamite shared with the media.

In recent years, the band contributed their funds to the local youth club that nurtured their group, as well as other grassroots music organisations.

And winners that year they donated their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a acquaintance was identified with the illness.

"Winning was ample," said vocalist Small. "The money was the cherry on top but we could do without the bonus, because we had the cake. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had rescued several local spots in south-east England, by bringing them into community ownership.

The first in Southampton and the other in Bristol were acquired under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by Arts Council England and supporters who purchase "shares" in the buildings.
